DIVOT EXHIBITION 2025

Woman's Transformation Series — Woman Table on Grass

Medium: Bronze

Year: 2016

Series: Woman's Transformation

Here I am on all fours in eternal summer noon. The grass beneath my palms and knees has sprouted with patina — turquoise, like copper sulfate used to spray vineyards. This work is about the moment when a woman becomes part of the landscape, an element of a picnic where others spread tablecloths and lay out food. But I am not merely furniture — I am the very earth from which everything grows.

Creating this sculpture in 2016, I thought of ancient fertility goddesses who were simultaneously altars for their own cult. The back arches not in humiliation, but in readiness to receive and transform. Each blade of grass beneath my body is an antenna catching cosmic signals. I am a radio station broadcasting on earth's frequency.

This work resonates especially here, in Divot, where they understand the sacredness of the meal and the sacrifice of food. If you feel that this bronze woman-earth should take root in your space, write to me — let's discuss what soil she prefers.
